Funeral services for Roger K. Dawdy, 71, of Holly Lake Ranch will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Holly Lake Church of Christ in Holly Lake Ranch with Grover Miley and Bill Holt officiating. Interment will be in the Holly Tree Cemetery in Holly Lake Ranch. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Hawkins. Roger K. Dawdy, went to be with his Heavenly Father on December 11, 2013. Roger was born on April 12, 1942, in Idalou, Texas to John and Faye Dawdy. He attended Idalou High School and Texas Tech University. He married Claudia Warren on August 18, 1967. They made their home in Floydada, Texas and later moved to Honey Grove, Texas. After retiring, Roger and Claudia spent the last eight years in Holly Lake Ranch, Texas. Roger was a life-long farmer and rancher. After retiring, he enjoyed golf, gardening, and spending time with his family, friends, and his faithful companion, his dog Digger. He was a faithful member of the Holly Lake Church of Christ, where he enjoyed leading singing. He shared his faith and love for Jesus by being a supporter of Camp Deer Run Christian Youth Camp. Roger adored his wife, Claudia, and he cherished his daughters and siblings. Pops found his greatest joy in watching his grandchildren grow up. He is survived by his wife, Claudia of Holly Lake Ranch; daughter and son-in-law, Kristy and Eric Howell of Argyle, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Randy Barnes of North Richland Hills, Texas; and seven grandchildren: Jon Aaron, Kyleb, Kason, and Julia Faith Howell, Hudson, Easton, and Greyson Barnes; brother, J.O. Dawdy of Floydada, Texas; sister, Marilyn Robertson and husband Dean of Longview, Texas; sister, Carol Griffin and husband Jerrell of Lubbock, Texas; sister-in-law, Fran Dobbs of Honey Grove, Texas; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his mom and dad, John and Faye Dawdy; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Elkin and Eva Warren. Roger"s love for the Lord, for his family, and for serving others will be his lasting legacy. The song in his heart and joy in the hope of Heaven, even in the most difficult times, were an inspiration to many. These memories will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
