Roddy Mayo Hailey 80, of Longview, Texas passed away at his home on Wednesday February 15,2023 with his loving family by his side. Roddy was born January 8,1943 in Pittsburg. Texas to Joseph Mayo Hailey and Lauris Opal Ridings. Roddy was a member of Longview High School, until his senior year, when he moved to Houston and graduated from Jessie H. Jones High School. Roddy then attended SFA University. He received his journeyman electrical license after going through the four year apprenticeship program with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Roddy was a member of the Smyrna Methodist Church in Diana, Texas. Roddy loved to fish and hunt, especially ducks with his sweet buddy Lab-Sam, that he trained to duck hunt with him. Roddy was a kind man with a warm smile. He and Linda traveled in their travel trailer to many states, where ever the work was, was where Roddy went. Linda said that traveling with Roddy were some of the best times of their lives. Roddy was a soft spoken man, he enjoyed his adult bible class and helping others like his friend Buddy Clowers and his grocery shopping trips.
Roddy was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Amanda Francis Hailey Hill; a sister Charlotte Samson.

A private graveside service will be held at Smyrna Cemetery in Harrison County Texas by Rev. Craig Evers on Sunday February 19, 2023, under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana, Texas
