GILMER- Memorial Services for Robert Luke Baird, 43, of Gilmer will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church of Gilmer with Charlie Baird officiating under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Interment will be held at Gilmer City Cemetery. Luke passed away on Monday, February 8, 2016 after a 14 month battle with cancer. Luke was born in Longview, Texas on July 23, 1972 to Jeff and Lana Sisson Baird. After graduating from Gilmer High School in 1990 with 18 hours of college credits he graduated from Texas Tech University in 1993 with a BA in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management. He then moved to Orlando, Florida and worked for Disney World, Hilton, and Stefanini Tech Team IT. His work at Tech Team took him all over the world many times installing computer equipment on U.S. Military Bases and hotels in Canada, Japan, Bahrain, Germany, Belgium, Italy, UK, Greenland, and Hawaii. Luke is survived by his parents, Jeff and Lana Baird; sisters, Lucy Winn and husband, Shane, Bonnie Jordan and husband, Josh; nieces, Carly Winn, Maddie Winn, and Josie Jordan; nephews, Hudson Winn and Gus Jordan; aunts, Peggy Helton and Sharon Hasten Penfold; uncles, Jackie Baird, Charlie Baird, Coye Sisson, and Joe Sisson. Luke was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack "Spot" Baird, Mary Lee Baird, T.J. "Son" Sisson, Mildred Sisson, and his uncle, Ben Hasten. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice in the name of Robert Luke Baird, Gilmer, Texas, 100 West Hawkins Pkwy, Suite 1, Longview, Texas 75605, or Duke Cancer Institute, 710 West Main St., Suite 200, Durham, NC. 27701 Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
