Robert Bumbard, 57, of Gladewater, passed away unexpectedly on October 1, 2022, in Tyler, Texas. He was born on August 19, 1965, in Shreveport, LA to James “Jim” Bumbard and Carol Duncan Lance. Robert graduated from John Tyler High School in Tyler in 1984. Robert met Shawna Foster and they were married on February 12, 1999.
Robert proudly served his country in the Marine Corps, obtaining the rank of Corporal. He worked several different jobs including being a firefighter/paramedic, property management, food management, retail/rental management, as well as owning a Taxi Cab Company of Longview for several years. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, camping, and photographing wildlife and nature. He also served as a volunteer firefighter with the Pritchett VFD for four years. Robert also volunteered with several veteran’s organizations in the area, when needed, and was passionate about the mission of preventing the 22 suicides a day of our service men and women, while helping those veteran’s organizations.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shawna Foster Bumbard, of Gladewater; mother, Carol Duncan Lance of Tyler; mother-in-law, Linda Linderer of Gladewater; father-in-law, Mike Foster and his wife Kelli of Osceola, MO; daughters, Merri-Lynn Williams and her husband, Cody of Lindale and Sarah Ankner and her husband Adam of Abilene; son, Royce Bumbard of Kapaau, HI; sisters and brothers, Lynda Lance and Paula Lance of Tyler, Lloyd Bumbard, Sr. and his wife Joyce of Gladewater, Samantha Hayden of Gilmer and Charles Bumbard and his wife Anita of San Diego, CA; sisters-in-law, Bethany Ross of Gladewater, Courtney Deghelder of Rich Hill, MO and Kayla Neale and her husband John of Osceola, MO; brothers-in-law, Lucas Mock and his wife Lainey of Hallsville, Scott Foster and his wife Kyleigh of Osceola, MO, Brent Black and his wife Tanaiah of Webster, TX, Josh Foster and his wife Brooklyn of Collins, MO, and Christopher Powell of Clinton, MO; 12 grandchildren and 32 nieces and nephews.
Robert is preceded in death by his father, James Bumbard; stepfather, John Lance; sister, Kathy Diviney; his infant son, Harvey Bumbard; infant grandchild, Baby Ankner; and infant nephew, Isaac Mock.
A memorial service for Robert will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 3:00 pm, with a visitation one hour prior to the services at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Robert’s final resting place will be at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
