Robert Lee Alexander was born February 11, 1927, in Upshur County to M.C. Alexander and Pellie Alexander. He passed from this life on November 5, 2024, in Longview, Texas at the age of 97.

 Robert served in the United States Army from April 1945 to December 1946. He was stationed in South Korea where he evacuated patients to the 29th General Hospital in Tokyo, Japan for flight to the United States. Robert retired from Lone Star Steel. He had a love for ranching, rodeoing, family, and music. Robert was of the Baptist faith and attended Glenwood Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon at the 67th St. Baptist Church in Galveston, Texas and New Bethlehem Baptist Church.

 Robert is survived by his sister Patsy Davis of Longview, Texas, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ray Alexander and wife Shirley, sisters Rosemary Beisch and husband Bill, Dorothey King and husband Albert, brother-in-law Clayton Davis, nephew Jeff Davis, niece Robin Jones, and nephew Gerald Lowrey.

 A service will be held Friday, November 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, Texas.

 The family would like to express their gratitude to HeartsWay Hospice and to Robert’s caregiver, Tabitha for the exceptional care he received.
