Robbie Nell Shepard

Services for Robbie Nell Shepard, 84, of Plano and formerly of Gladewater, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 22, 2010, at New Life Church with Pastor Bill Teague officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery under the direction of Croley Funeral Home. Born on February 16, 1926, to Charles Bert and Mary Pearl Johnston, she died on Monday, October 18, 2010, A 1941 graduate of Gladewater High School, she attended East Texas Baptist College and later received her bachelor's degree from Baylor University. After graduation, she was employed with Braniff Airlines. In September of 1953, she married Robert R. "Bob" Shepard and in the 1970s, they moved to Gladewater. For several years, she was a substitute teacher for the Gladewater Independent School District and later worked for the GED program sponsored by Kilgore College. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Susan Shepard of Plano; one daughter , Janet Christian of Jacksonville, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Rachel Christian and Linny Christian; one brother and sister-in-law, O.G. and Georgia Ruth Johnston of Gladewater; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Johnston of Gladewater. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Bert and Mary Pearl Johnston; husband, Robert R. "Bob" Shepard; and brother, Billy Ray Johnston. No formal visitation is scheduled.
