Rickie A. Gipson

Funeral service for Rickie A. Gipson, 70 of Gilmer will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Gilmer with Bro. Clay Potter officiating and interment following the service at Simpsonville Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday, April 13, 2018 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mr. Gipson passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018 in Longview.
Rickie was born February 14, 1948 to the late Doy and Frances (Reed) Gipson in Gilmer, TX. Rickie graduated from Union Hill in 1966 and then attended East Texas State University where he graduated with a degree in agriculture in 1970. He then married the love of his life, Nelda Gipson on August 22, 1970 and they were happily married for 47 years. Rickie enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, genealogy, and most importantly spending time with his family. Mr. Gipson also proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Ft. Carson in Colorado Springs, CO and was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He worked as an assistant cashier and teller at First National Bank in Gilmer for 38 years and was a member of Concord Baptist Church where he served as music minister and taught Sunday school for over 20 years.
Rickie is survived by his wife, Nelda Gipson of Gilmer; son, Crispin Gipson and wife Melissa of Crowley; daughter, Misti Suber and husband Michael of Rockwall; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Gipson of Gilmer; grandchildren, Michaela, Emily, Kennedy, and Haley Gipson, and Sawyer, Ava and Reid Suber; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dennis Gipson.
