Richard B. Pope DIANA �Memorial services for Richard B. Pope, 84, of Diana will be at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Grubbs-Loyd Chapel, in Diana, with Craig Evers and Max Martin officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. He passed away May 5, 2012 in Longview. Richard was born January 28, 1928 in Harleton, Texas to David and Verian Pope. He retired from LSS where he was a machinist for many years. Richard was a man of the earth. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He loved sharing the fruits of his labor with family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and even strangers. He took a lot of pride in his vegetable and flower gardens. He is survived by his wife Betty Pope, sons & daughter-in-law: Kenneth & Janie Pope of Lake Cherokee, and Dickie Pope, daughters & son-in-law: Sally & Brett Goode of White Oak and Marilyn Berry of Nacogdoches, step-children: Monica Townsend, Patricia Rowland, Teri Witt, Brett Rowland & Ken Rowland, brothers: Allen & Margaret Pope, Don Earl & Londa Pope, Larry & Colleen Pope, & Dennis & Nadine Pope, sister: Nina Carltonl, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and sons Clyde & David Pope. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hiway 80 Rescue Mission, 3117 W. Marshall Ave., Longview, Tx. 75604.
