Rhonda Leneave "Wootten" Wallace

Rhonda Leneave Wootten Wallace, 67, of Diana Texas entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday December 30th after a long but valiant battle with heart failure.

Rhonda was born on November 15, 1956 to Mark and Leneave Wootten in Gilmer, TX. She attended New Diana school and graduated in 1975. Following graduation, she attended Kilgore College where she earned an associates degree. Rhonda then made her career as a medical transcriptionist. She was highly spoken of by her coworkers and was consistently sought after by the physicians in the hospital. She was known for being able to decipher doctors fast talking and was able to type 98 words per minute! Rhonda worked for Longview Regional Medical Center for 38 years before retiring in 2018.

Her hobbies included playing the organ and piano, sewing, and spending time with family.

Rhonda was a beautiful organist and pianist for more than 40 years, playing at First Baptist Church Diana, many weddings and funerals. Rhonda was known as an elegant woman who eluded calmness and a genuine love for life.

Rhonda dedicated her life to her only child, Monica, and was an excellent mother, role model and provider. Her dedication extended to her grandchildren once they were born.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Mark and Leneave Wootten.

Rhonda is survived by what she told the nurses in her last days “My World”. Rhonda’s only child, Monica Morlen and her husband Mark and her grandchildren, who brought her the most joy: Jeff, Drew, Daniel, Kensley, Maddox and Maggie. She is also survived by her big brothers who were always so protective of her, William Wootten and his wife Nancy Wootten (who Rhonda considered a sister), and David Wootten. Rhonda is also survived by her nieces and nephews whom she cherished dearly; Jennifer Meyer (husband Phil), Jon Wootten (wife Laney), Kristen Simmons (husband Michael), and Jordan Wootten (wife Juliana) and many great nieces and nephews.

Rhonda will be missed beyond comprehension however we have peace knowing that she is with Jesus. Rhonda was saved at the age of 18 years old at FBC Diana during a sermon preached by Bro. Taylor. She loved the verse Phillipians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” Rhonda fought the fight and has finished the race.

The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to the medical teams at MD Anderson, Houston Methodist, Good Shepherd, and The Heart Hospital in Plano for all the genuine care and love they showed to her during her lengthy hospital stays.
