Memorial services for Reggie Gene Cauthen, 64, of Gilmer will be Sunday, September 4, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Reverend Doyle Rust officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday following services. Mr. Cauthen passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2016 in Houston. Reggie was born April 30, 1952 in Sweetwater, Texas to the late Sidney Arban Cauthen and Thelma Jean Morrow. He was a member of the Midway Baptist Church. Mr. Cauthen worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for the United States Postal Service in Dallas and Tyler for more than 30 years. Reggie enjoyed fishing and tending to his cattle and chickens. But most of all; he was a jack of all trades and was always working on a project of some type. Mr. Cauthen served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Reggie will be missed by all the family and friends he leaves behind. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Violet Cauthen; son and daughter-in-law Shawn and Frances Cauthen; two brothers and sisters-in-law Melvin and Tammy Cauthen and Paul and Vicki Cauthen; three sisters Janet Russell, Sue Womack and Ann Teirney; three grandchildren Kaylee Conklin, Garrett Conklin and Justin Cauthen as well as many other loving family and friends. Mr. Cauthen is preceded in death by a daughter Tiffany June Cauthen who passed in 2013.
