Phillip George Tippie

Funeral services for Phillip "Sonny" George Tippie, 72, of Gilmer, Texas will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Larry W. Osborne officiating. Interment will follow at Hoover Cemetery in Upshur County, Texas. Mr. Tippie passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016 in Kopperl, Texas and was born on December 22, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio to Phillip Tippie, Sr. and Julia Tippie. He was a lead burner at Lone Star Lead. Sonny was a great man, full of life and laughter. Wonderful dad, awesome brother, and loving grandfather. There is nothing he wouldn"t do to try and help someone if he could. From his crazy jokes, outrageously funny short rhymes to his quirky sayings if Sunny was around you couldn"t help but smile. He is survived by his sons, Phillip Robert Tippie and his wife Summer, Joseph Anthony Tippie and his wife, Ali; daughter, Charlottee Furstonberg and her husband John; brother, Perry Lee Tippie and wife Terrie; sisters, Linda Bates, Kay Tippie, Meadie Chumley, Maude LaFountain; ten grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Julia Tippie; brothers, Barry Lee Tippie and Ralph Stanley Tippie; sisters, Nancy Curiale, Connie McQuire, Mary Jane Tippie and Ida Frances Tippie. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at Croley Funeral Home.
