Philip Lawson Monts

Cremation arrangements for Mr. Philip Lawson Monts, 74, of Gilmer, TX are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Philip passed away Thursday, March 21, 2019 in Longview, TX.

Mr. Monts was born on November 12, 1944, in Gilmer, TX to late Lawson and Mildred (Coffman) Monts and married Susan Irene Neely Harrison on June 3, 1988 in Cason, TX. Philip worked for many years as a Police Officer in Gilmer and also proudly served in the Untied States Army. He was also of the Methodist faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Monts is survived his wife, Susan Monts; step daughters, Jenny Bailey and her husband, Kevin, Heather Nolan; sisters, Ann Bullock and her husband Marvin “Bo” and Anita Gore; brothers, Mike Monts and his wife, Debbie, Johnny Monts and his wife, Debra; and four grandchildren, Sky, Lake, Canyon, and Landon.

A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flower memorials can be made to the Gilmer Police Department, 218 Old Coffeeville Road, Gilmer, TX 75644 in memory of Philip.
