Peter Richard Hooks

A celebration of life memorial service for Peter Richard Hooks, 73, of Emory will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2020, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater. Mr. Hooks passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2020, in Tyler.

Peter was born October 31, 1946 in Bad Kissingen, Bavaria, Germany to Robert Leon Hooks and Lucia Sophia Dossing. He worked for Texas Utilities many years until retirement; after retirement he continued working in other countries such as Croatia, Madagascar and others; teaching them how to run their utility operation. Peter enjoyed playing guitar and riding horses. He was very involved in his children’s activities including Boy Scouts and all sporting events. Peter was an accomplished angler and fished professionally in tournaments. He was also very proud of his Native American heritage and participated in celebrations of that heritage. Peter lived life to the fullest and cherished his time with family and friends and all the experiences life provided. He will truly be missed by all the loving family and many friends he leaves behind.

Peter is survived by his mother Lucia Sophia Dossing Hooks; four children Tracy Malone and husband Mike of Tyler, Clint Hooks and wife Sheila of Cumby, Heidi Davis and husband David of Big Sandy and Ben Hooks and wife Jennifer of Forney; three sisters Sylvia Fox of Sulphur Springs, Lynn Frye of Dallas and Katrina Shephard of Quinlan; fifteen grandchildren Patrick Malone and wife Jen, Matthew Malone and wife Michelle, Chase Malone and wife Alyssa, Cullen Malone, Kaleb Hooks, Joshua Hooks and wife Katie, Kalie Kinlaw, Kyle Kinlaw, Mary Kristina Wilkerson and husband Kevin, Maggie Dent, Breana Pitts and husband Robert, Kayla Johnson, Jacob Hooks, Joseph Hooks and Vaughan Hooks; twenty-one great grandchildren Nolan, Ranger, Rhyder, Izzy, Madison, Miles, Maxwell, Mason, Adam, Malia, Karsen, Kamden, Charlie, Easton, Remington, Rylan, Tanner, Laikyn, Hayden, Casyn and Carly as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
