Pernie Melvina Davis

Mrs. Pernie Melvina Davis, age 91 of Gilmer, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021 in Gilmer. Melvina was born on May 15, 1929 in Graham, Texas to the late Issac David Reep and Pernie Akers. She was a dedicated homemaker that loved to cook, crochet, quilt, and collect cook books. She was a dutiful caregiver working in healthcare facilities and private homes in the area for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Willard Geske and mother, Pernie Akers Geske; two siblings, brother, Howard Geske, and sister Arnita Meadows.
She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Carl Edward Davis of Gilmer; son, Richard Guthrie and wife Jean of Gilmer; daughter, Joyce Marie Thorsheim and husband Martin of Jefferson; sister, Artie Louise Gifford and husband Doyle of Houston; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six step-children, and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Aug 4, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Park of Gilmer; Bro. Ricky Davis officiating. The family will gather and welcome friends and family starting at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, Aug 4, 2021 at Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer.
