GILMER- Funeral services for Peggy Jean Ashley, 80, of Ore City, Texas will be held at 3:00 P.M., on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Lakeview Baptist Church in Ore City with Bro. Wayne Norvell officiating under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Interment will follow at Lafayette Cemetery in Pittsburg. Mrs. Ashley passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 in Longview and was born on January 25, 1936 in Pittsburg to Gaston and Durine Scarbrough Williams. She married John Franklin Ashley on February 11, 1955 in Midway, Texas. Mrs. Ashley lived her life serving the Lord and helping others. She was a real estate agent for many years and it gave her so much joy to be able to help people get into their first homes. Mrs. Ashley also enjoyed going to Shreveport and playing the slot machines. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, John Ashley; sons, John Ross Ashley of Lake O" The Pines, Bret Frank Ashley and wife, Tedra of Franklin, Tennessee; daughter, Carla Beth Olden and husband, Alan of Titusville, Flordia; sister, Janette Patterson and husband, Michael of Burleson, Texas; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Ashley was preceded in death by her parents, Gaston and Durine Williams and son, Bart "Cotton" Lin Ashley. The family will receive friends at 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
