Services for Mr. Paul Knight, 79, of Gilmer will be held 10:00 A.M, Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ray Thompson, Bro. Dicky Mauk and Bro. Ron Dunn officiating and burial will follow at Enon Cemetery. Mr. Knight passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 in Gilmer. He was born on February 19, 1932, in Upshur County, Texas to Loyd L. and Hazel Geneva Vest Knight. Mr. Knight served 3 years in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He surrendered to the ministry on July 8th, 1967, and preached his last sermon on October 31, 2010 at Macedonia Baptist Church. He served as a Baptist minister for 44 years. Among the churches he pastured were Little Hope in Wood County, Ebenezer Friendship and Macedonia in Camp County, Concord, Oak Hill and Woodland in Upshur County. He has also served as moderator for the Liberty Baptist Association. During the years of his ministry he preached 323 funerals and ninety one weddings. His last wedding was on Oct 16th, 2010 when he his youngest granddaughter, Meagan Knight, married Greg May. Paul owned and operated Knight"s Septic Tank Service for over 35 years. Bro. Knight is survived by his wife, Wanda Bradshaw Knight; children, Lana Stracener husband Tommy of Gilmer, Randy K. Knight wife Brenda of Daingerfield, Karmen Kelley husband Jim of Gilmer, Gregory L. (Sam) Knight wife Sandra(also stepdaughter) of Pittsburg; stepdaughter, Nickie Carlile husband Bill of Pittsburg; grandchildren, Casey Kirby Pate of Gilmer, Kelli Billy Byrd of Union Grove, Caleb Lana Stracener of Gilmer, Brandi Jones Mandi Knight of Pittsburg, Misti Shawn McGrede of Longview, Randy Wendy McKay of Spring Hill, Clay Becca Steelman of Gilmer, Clint Heather Steelman of Gilmer, Meagan Greg May of Kilgore, Jacob Knight of Pittsburg, Buck Bailey Carlile of Pittsburg; great grandchildren, Riley Ethan Pate, Justice, Selleck Sabin Byrd, Cy Stracener, Savannah Steelman, Colton Steelman, Kelan McKay and Riley McGrede; sisters, Jo Young of Longview, Diane Jimmy McGrede of Longview, Lucy Butch Preuninger of Gilmer, Nell Jobe of Gilmer, Kay Doyle Pittmon of Nacogdoches. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Joyce Petty Knight; parents, Loyd L. Hazel Knight; brother, Winston Knight, sister, Wanda Sue Denton and grandchild, Crystal Kelley. The pallbearers are Jim Barton, Dennis Campbell, Rodney Marshall, David Jackson, Danny Patterson, Andy Richardson, Ricky Roberts and Ronney Roberts. Honorary pallbearers are Bro. J. C. Henderson, Pete Richardson, Danny Howell and Jackie Howell The family will receive friends on Friday, April 29, 2011, 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
