Funeral services for Pat Turner, 92, of Gilmer will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Larry W. Osborne and Ken Loyd officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mr. Turner passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012 in a Longview hospital. Mr. Turner was born May 3, 1920, in Gilmer, Texas to Surry and Bessie Mae Couch Turner. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, retired welder for Lone Star Steel Company, member of the Bethesda Masonic Lodge #142 AF & AM and a member of the First Baptist Church in Gilmer. He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-laws, Ronnie and Carlean Turner of Gilmer and Charles and Lana Turner of Gilmer; daughter and son-in-law, June and Jim Alvey of White Oak; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Mr. Turner is preceded in death by his wife, Glee Turner; brothers, Frank Turner and Gastel Turner; sister, Gwen Tobin. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Ray Isonhood, Jody Turner, Josh Turner, Jon Turner, Adam Turner and Ben Turner. Honorary Pallbearers will be Scott Green, Marvin Jackson and the Fellowship Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 30, 2012 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Family request memorials be made to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn Street, Dallas, Texas 75219 or the charity of their choice. Mr. Turner"s family would like to express their sincere thanks to all the nurses and doctors at Longview Regional Hospital Intermediate Care, especially Dr. Charles Newkirk as well as to all of the staff at Upshur Manor Nursing Home in Gilmer.
