Odessa Marie Walls

Odessa Marie Walls, 91, of Gilmer, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022, in Longview. Funeral services for Odessa will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at the Glade Creek Church with Bro. Wayne Norvell officiating. Interment will follow services at Glade Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the Glade Creek.

Odessa was born October 11, 1931, in Dialville, Texas to the late William Henry Blackwell and Mozelle Elizabeth Nolley.  She was a devoted homemaker for many years. Mrs. Walls worked for a short time at the Rusk State Hospital.  Odessa enjoyed quilting and sewing; she was a member of the Pritchett Quilters. When she wasn’t quilting Odessa loved spending time visiting with her family.  She was a longtime member of the Glade Creek Church.   Odessa will not soon be forgotten by all the loving family and friends she leaves behind.

Odessa is survived by her children Billy Jack Shirey of Pritchett, TX, David Shirey of Haynesville, LA, Billy Ray Walls of Kempner, TX, Brenda Benge of Union Grove, TX, Patty Shirey of Union Grove, TX, Cheryl Hodges of Union Grove, TX, Carol Smith of Alvin, TX and Lisa Stockton of Jones Creek, TX; a sister Melba Jean Smith of Etoile; 21 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren as well as many other loving family and friends.
