It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Newman Bishop, a proud army veteran and beloved community member. Newman was born on September 10, 1945, in Centertown, Kentucky to Samuel and Alta Bishop. He served his country during the Vietnam War and found love with his wife, Anne, whom he met as a pen pal during his service.
After returning home, Newman worked as an auctioneer in East Texas and held positions at Cloud Food Service and Lone Star Steel. He was a dedicated husband to Anne, a loving father to his daughters Monica and Shelly, and a cherished brother to Truman and Flossie.
Newman will be remembered for his kind heart and his unwavering loyalty to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife (Rodney) Anne, daughters Monica Dear and husband Ike of Gladewater, Texas and Shelly Robertison of Portland, OR, siblings Truman Bishop of Centerown, KY and Flossie Flener and husband Dwayne of Louisville, KY, grandchildren, Kayla Dear and Erika Dear, great-grandchild Adrian Ramirez and his precious service dog, Heidi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Alta Bishop; brothers, Ernest Ray Bishop, Samuel K Bishop Jr. and Donald Bishop as well as his grandparents, Reverend and Mrs. CJ Boyd.
