Nell Cannon

Funeral Services for Mrs. Nell Pike Cannon, 77, of Kilgore, former longtime resident of Gladewater, will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater with Reverend Ken Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Mrs. Cannon passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018 in Kilgore.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Croley Funeral Home.

Nell was born May 12, 1941 in Golden, Texas to the late Marlin Gene Pike and Mildred Pope Pike. She grew up in Gladewater and was a Gladewater H.S. class of 1959 graduate. Mrs. Cannon worked as a manager for David Beard’s in Kilgore and then retired from the Texaco Service Station in 2004. Nell enjoyed fishing, church and spending time with family and friends especially her dog “Precious” who brought her love, joy and happiness. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and more recently was attending Fellowship Baptist Church in Kilgore. Nell was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker who will not soon be forgotten.

Nell is survived by her son Joe Cannon and wife Elaine; brother Gene Pike and wife Rita; sister-in-law Jo Pike; three grandchildren Jourdan McElhone and husband Jim, Loni Sharshell and Heath Jones and wife Kirsty; five great grandchildren Colton Jones, Remington Sharshell, Declan McElhone, Kian McElhone and Lochlan McElhone; half sisters and brothers Winnie, Mark, Rex, Marilyn, Lucille, Paul and Patricia; step mother Kathy Pike as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many other loving family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 56 years Billy Joe Cannon; son Darrell “Bubba” Cannon; grandson Casey Jones and siblings Son, Howard, Carl, Robert, David, Louise, Betty, Marie and Johnny.
