GILMER- Graveside services for Nadine Weatherby Walker, 90, of Gilmer, Texas will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer with Bro. Marion Palmer and Larry W. Osborne officiating under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. She passed away at her home on July 21 surrounded by her family. Nadine was born April 2, 1926, the 7th of 8 children to the Rev. Charles Weatherby and Minnie Catherine Dacus Weatherby in Grice, TX. Her grandparents were Confederate Veteran Sgt. Seaborn Weatherby and wife Sarah and Thomas A. Dacus and wife Ida, pioneers, of Dacusville, South Carolina. After WWII she met a soldier, who was to become her life partner, with the "most beautiful blue eyes I ever saw," she said. Together they raised a family of 3 children. She worked alongside her husband, Buster (A.D.) Walker, to form a successful business of almost 35 years, Walker Auto Sales, in Gilmer. She was also very active in the lives of her children and later her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great- great grandchildren. She loved her babies as she was fond of saying. She leaves a legacy of integrity, faith, honor, and love of family. Surviving her are two daughters, Melva Lynne Hall and husband Chris, Linda Mason and husband Ronnie; one grandchild Ryan Mason and wife, Kilie; five great grandchildren, Danielle and Caleb Mason, Nichole and Josh Stanfield, Lindsay Schular and husband J.D.; four great-great grandchildren, Zaine, Ayden, L.J., and Johnny. Preceding her in death are her husband Buster (A.D.) Walker; son, John Walker; granddaughter, Leisa Stanfield. No formal visitation will be held.
