Murray Jordan

Murray Kay Jordan, age 76, passed away December 10, 2021, in Longview, Texas. He was born on August 3, 1945, to Maggie Loise and Thomas Morgan Jordan in Gilmer, Texas.

Murray retired as a Houston Police officer after serving the City of Houston for 20 years. He was awarded the Medal of Valor for his selfless acts of bravery and public service. Murray also retired from the Upshur County Sheriff's department where he served as Chief Deputy for 12 years.

Murray is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Morgan Jordan, mother Maggie Loise Jordan, sisters Virginia Coralee Johnson, Betty Jane Andrews, brother David Michael Jordan, and sons Douglas Darren Davis and Raymond Hugh Davis.

He is survived by his children, Janet Lynn Brown, Melissa Jordan and husband Darrell, Jeanne Leasure and husband Beeman, Kim Hamilton and husband Brian, and Maura Holcombe. He is also survived by his siblings John Edward Jordan, Terry Thomas Jordan, Sue Karen Jordan, Nancy Ruth Parkison, and Benny Earl Jordan; also, 18 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and numerous beloved nephews and nieces.

A memorial service in Murray’s honor will be held at Croley Funeral Home, 305 West Harrison Street, Gilmer, Texas on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at 1:00 pm with Andrew “Drew” Nelson officiating. Interment immediately following at Coffeeville Cemetery.
