Mozell Martin, 85, formerly of East Mountain, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep March 3, 2014, at EdenHill"s Willow Community in New Braunfels, Texas. She was born January 3, 1929, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She is preceded in death by her late husband of 65 years, Virgil Martin; three sisters, Alice Ruthardt, Wanda Nicholson and Margartha Kee; and four brothers, Ed Tucker, Arthur Tucker Jr., Jack Tucker and her twin brother, Buddy Tucker. Mozell, also known as "Mo" and "Sister" by her family, was a homemaker living in East Mountain with her husband after he retired in 1990. There they enjoyed their passion for gardening and happily shared their plentiful bounty with family, friends and neighbors. She was a very active member of the Church of the Nazarene in Gladewater, Texas. Her church family was very important to her. Survivors include her son, Steve Martin and his wife, Jan (the daughter she always wanted and whom she dearly loved); two grandsons, Kris Martin and his wife, Aja and Damon Knight and his wife, Michelle; one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Rae Knight; several nieces and nephews; as well as her pet dog, Pepper. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel, Gladewater, Texas, with interment in Gladewater Memorial Park. Services will be officiated by Bro. Dean Simmons. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, March 7, 2014, at the funeral home. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Legend Oaks Healthcare and Rehab Center in Gladewater, Texas, the Willows at EdenHills Communities and Hope Hospice Care and Support in New Braunfels, Texas, for their support in her final days.
