Mildred Bierman Akins

Funeral services for Mildred Bierman Akins, 96, of Big Sandy will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 30, 2015, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater with Pastor Jerome Ellard officiating. Interment will be in Gladewater Memorial Park in Gladewater. Mrs. Akins passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2015 in a Gladewater nursing home. Mrs. Akins was born June 22, 1919, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Samuel W. and Effie Handy Bierman. She was retired from Annie"s Attic, had lived in Big Sandy for 37 years and was a member of New Beginnings Church in Big Sandy. Mrs. Akins is survived by her son, Chip and wife Jasmin Akins of Point; daughters, Donna and husband, Bob Jones, Sue Jones, Elaine Akins all of Big Sandy; daughter-in-law, Melinda Akins of Big Sandy; brother, Jack Bierman of Little Rock, Arkansas; sister, Dorotha Wade of Gainesville, Florida; 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Akins; sons, Carl W. Akins and Buddy Akins; parents; and brothers, Bill Bierman and Harold Bierman. Pallbearers will be John Jones, Tom Jones, Bo Akins, Paul Cemer, Ron Cemer and Garland Harroff. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons.
