Mickey Carol Blalock, Sr. 71, of Diana, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022 in Tyler. Graveside Services will be 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 in Mount Pleasant at Liberty Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Liberty Hill Baptist Church at 1:00 P.M. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home.
Mickey was born on March 19, 1950 in Deport, Texas to Frank and Ruth Blalock. He proudly served his country in the US Army, American Calvary Division in Vietnam where he received a Combat Infantry Badge. Mickey worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Titus County and later was a welder for Lone Star, Exxon, and Brown & Root, retiring after 30 years. Mickey was a member of Diana Methodist Church, as well as lifelong citizen of East Texas. He and his wife enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels in their spare time. He enjoyed spending time camping & traveling, gardening, and working his land with his tractor while listening to country music. He also loved tinkering in his shop, playing a game of cards, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Mickey is survived by his wife: Rebecca, son: Mickey Blalock Jr., and wife Stacy, daughters: Mindi Selman and husband Stephen, Colleen Marsh and husband Andrew, Emily Tomlin, sister: Gayla Conner, 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Sherrill and Gayle Blalock, sisters: Donnita Conger and Sue Wright.
