Funeral services for Michael Wayne Grabbs, 62, of Starrville, will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 17, 2021 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater. Burial will follow at Starrville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Michael passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021, in Tyler.
Michael and Dyan are members of Clarksville City Baptist Church. Michael has been a devoted son, assisting his father in caring for his mother until her passing.
In 1993 he married Dyan Jamison in Center, TX. He took on a readymade family with a daughter Nikki and son Brad. He did his best to be a good husband and father. Michael always worked hard to provide for his family. He always considered Nikki and Brad as his children. He would always be at the school anytime Nikki had an issue. He would go to work at 2:00 a.m. in order to be able to be at Brad’s games.
Then in 1998 Casey was born. When Casey was a year old, Michael and Dyan adopted Casey. He changed Michael’s life and Casey was the most important person to Michael. There was always work to be done on the home place. If Michael was outside, Casey was right beside him. He taught all of his children the basics of working on cars, changing flats, mowing, how to drive and how to work and pin cattle. He bought each of his children their first car and was right along beside them through their tickets and first accidents; except for Nikki, because she was probably the safest driver of the three.
When his father developed Parkinson’s; Michael again took on the role of caregiver. If Michael loved you, he always put you first.
Then to his wife, Michael and Dyan shared a love and passion for one another not everyone gets to experience. They both believe God brought them together. There were ups and downs but it was a love that could only come from the Lord above. In 2017 Dyan suffered a stroke and Michael was there for her for more than two years as she grieved the person she once was. Michael took over grocery shopping and anything else Dyan needed. Michael was the love of her life and he always treated her with love and respect.
I, Dyan Grabbs would like to thank all of Michael’s friends, work family, neighbors and church family for being so kind and caring of our family. I never realized there were so many loving and caring people in this world.
Michael has been my help mate for almost half of my life. It will be the most difficult time I have ever been through, but with my children and my God, I will get through it. Thank you all for caring and loving us.
Michael leaves behind his loving wife of 28 years Dyan Jamison Grabbs; three children Angela Nichole Strickland, Richard Bradley Jernigan and Casey Lake Coperidge Grabbs; three granddaughters Alexis Diane McBride, Bailey Jernigan and Joscelyn Jernigan; great granddaughter Blakeley Raine Prewit; sister Judy Fleming; nephew Jody Fleming; Catherine Jernigan the mother of Bailey and Joscelyn whom he would always considered his daughter-in-law.
