Melvin Loyd Russell

Melvin Loyd Russell, 80, of Diana, Texas, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023. Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer interment will follow at Grice Cemetery. A visitation will be held 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.

Loyd was born August 1, 1942, in Kilgore, Texas, to the late Thomas and Charlean Keller Russell. He was a self-employed mechanic and body shop owner. Loyd will be greatly missed by the many friends and family members he leaves behind.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Tommy Russell; and sister Linda Smith.

Loyd is survived by Linda Orms; daughters Tammy Russell, Delinda Hayes and husband Scott, Deetra Spann and husband Bill, and Shelly Buttafuoco; brother Charles Russell and wife Martha; sisters Kay Rush and husband James, Raynell Danley and husband Robert, and Intha Vaughan; grandchildren Lauren Bledsoe and husband Shelby, Brandon Barrow and wife Lindsey, Danielle Coker, and Brooke Spann; as well as great grandchildren Cole and Hunter Barrow, and Stetson Spann.

Pallbearers for the service will be Jared Poe, Chad Poe, Greg Russell, Kenny Heflin, Clint Hudson, and Brandon Barrow.
