Melinda Ann McKnight, 56, passed away Saturday, June 13th, 2020 after living for over three years with LMS cancer. She was born on November 22, 1963 at Larson AFB Ephrata, Washington to Max and Saundra Edwards.
She earned a degree in computer science from Kilgore College. She had many careers over her full life, her favorite and final as an accountant at TNT Crane and Rigging, where her intelligence, focus and education made her a highly valued team member.
She had many passions: gardening, animals, reading and most of all, her family. She was very generous with her time and energy, always ready to help family and friends. Melinda's biggest gift to the world was her contagious attitude, calm demeanor, eternal smile and good humor.
Melinda is survived by her high school sweetheart, husband, and partner of 39 years, Tracy McKnight, sons Joshua McKnight of Gladewater and Patrick McKnight of Douglas, Wyoming, and daughter Ashley Garcia of Gladewater, five grandchildren, Landon McKnight, Logan McKnight, Lillian McKnight, Sidnie Garcia, and Aubrie Garcia, Mother, Saundra Edwards, Siblings, Gayla Hart of Gladewater, Kelly Edwards of Gladewater, Phillip Edwards of Arlington, and Emily Mayfield of Longview, and many nieces and nephew. She is preceded in death by her father Max Edwards.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 10 AM at First United Methodist Church of Gladewater. A private interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Leiomyosarcoma Support and Direct Research Foundation.
