Funeral services for Max R. Fletcher, 82 of Gilmer will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 5, 2014, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Bro. Dan Manuel. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Upshur County. Mr. Fletcher passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014 in Gilmer. He was born October 20, 1932, in Beckville, Texas, to Charlie Robinson Fletcher and Mina Ann Williams Fletcher. Mr. Fletcher was a Staff Sgt. in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Joan Cowan on June 17, 1961, was employed as an office manager for Otis Engineering Corp and a member of The Church of Christ. Mr. Fletcher loved nature and fishing, he was a lifetime member of Bass Anglers Sportsman Society; he also loved bluegrass music. Mr. Fletcher is survived by daughters, Elaine Fletcher and Shawna Fletcher both of Gilmer. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 51 years, Joan Fletcher and sister, Alma Warren. Pallbearers are Otis McDaniel, Perry Cowan, Scott Kennedy, Leon Bow, Joe Snow and Justice Bates. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December, 4, 2014 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
