Mavis Stanley

Mavis Hill Stanley, 91, passed from this life on November 30, 2021 at her home in Gilmer, TX.
Mavis was born to William David Hill and Beulah Steelman Hill on November 13th, 1930. She was a lifetime resident of Upshur County and a member of Pritchett Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her Lord, husband of 50 years, and her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She was also an avid gardener, which she tended until she was 90 years old. Fishing was her favorite pastime and she went every chance she got with her sister Callie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daniel Stanley; daughter, Linda Viramontes; and her brothers and sisters.
Surviving family members: Son, John Stanley and wife Debbie; Daughter, Elaine Viramontes and husband Pete.
Grandchildren: Annette McMullen and husband Mike, Misty Lawrence and husband Blake, Jared Rogers, Tony Viramontes and wife Anna, Chassity Stanley, John Viramontes and wife Bettina, and Joe Stanley
Great grandchildren: Jake McMullen, Colton McMullen, Payton McMullen, Brinley Lawrence, Brayden Lawrence, Myla Viramontes, Kenna Viramontes, Kruz Viramontes, Kason Viramontes, Kinley Viramontes, Emory Viramontes, and Camaron Bruce
She was blessed with one Great-Great Grandchild, Canaan McMullen. She had numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and her faithful little dog Mopsy who loved her so.
Funeral services for Mavis Stanley will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday December 3rd, 2021 at Croley Funeral Home, with Bro. Terry Caffey and Bro. Randy Stracener officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Gilmer, Texas.
