Maurice Meloy Andrews

Maurice Meloy Andrews, 75, of Hawkins, TX passed away on November 25, 2022 in Tyler Texas.

Maurice was born on January 29, 1947 in Lake Charles, LA to Samuel and Marjorie Andrews.

He is survived by his son, Justin Andrews (Angie Andrews), his daughter Sarah Andrews (Andrew Halvorsen), grandchildren; Alex Andrews (Meredith Andrews), Jordan Oswalt (Sydnee Oswalt), Carter Oswalt, Jayden Roach, Arden Roach & unborn granddaughter Raven Dru.

Maurice is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Margorie Andrews.

After attending Lake Charles High School, Maurice “Mo” attended McNeese State University for one semester before joining the United States Marine Corps, December of 1966. He served honorably for four years, including a year tour of duty in Vietnam. Cpl. Andrews was honorably discharged with the following earned service medals and awards; National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal (1st award), Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal (2nd award)

Following his service in the Marine Corps, Maurice found himself in New Orleans. He graduated from LSU of New Orleans (school of nursing), with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Mo then proceeded to Charity Hospital in New Orleans where he specialized in Anesthesia. He worked as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist until he retired in 2008.

While attending anesthesia school at Charity Hospital Mo met Mary Susan LeCompte. They were married and had two beautiful children, Justin and Sarah, who he adored. Mo and Mary Susan were married for five years.

Later in life, Mo moved to Shreveport, LA where he eventually met Ann Pepper. They were married for 18 years and had no children, but together welcomed and loved three grandchildren.

It was no secret that Mo loved his children and occupation. He was also passionate about the outdoors. Maurice spent every summer taking his kids water skiing on Caddo lake. He also loved learning. Mo could be found most times relaxing with a book in his hand.

Maurice lived out his final years on Justin’s Ranch, where he enjoyed helping with the cows and spending time with his beloved son.

Maurice was a phenomenal man, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 1:30 pm in the afternoon at Crossroads Baptist Church. 120 Maple Springs Church Road Hawkins, TX 75765.
