Mary Ethlyn Elwell

Mary Ethlyn Elwell, 85, of Oklahoma City,Oklahoma past into God"s waiting arms on December 5, 2013 with family by her side. She is now reunited with her loving husband and friend. Ethlyn was born in Gilmer, Texas on July 10, 1928 and was the daughter of Elmer and Eva Green who preceded her in death. Ethlyn"s life was filled with many experiences which she faced with undaunted strength. She had the biggest heart and always did what she could for those around her. Her family and friends became the most important elements in her life which she treated with utmost care. Two of her favorite things she enjoyed doing was serving at her church and singing in the choir. One of her hobbies was fishing as long as it included her family or friends. Prior to getting married and moving to Oklahoma, Ethlyn worked at the telephone company in Gilmer, Texas. Ethlyn is preceded in death by her husband Elwinn J Elwell, whom she married in 1950; 5 siblings, Marshall Green, Douglas Green, Dovie Stracener, Grace Monk, and Bess Williamson. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Shawn Elwell of Edmond, Ok; son and daughter-in-law, Carlos and Mary Elwell of Norman, OK; and son Bart Elwell; 4 grandchildren, Christopher Elwell (wife Jessica) of Moore, OK; Meredith Webb (husband Kevin) of Memphis, TN; Jarred Elwell of Norman, OK; and Breanne Elwell of Edmond, OK; 1 great grandchild Evan Elwell of Moore, OK. A graveside service for Ethlyn will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at 10:00 am at Enon Cemetery near Gilmer, Texas under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
