Mary Jo Coulter, 93, of Gilmer, TX passed away Friday March 29th, 2024, in her own home.
Mary Jo was born February 9th, 1931, in Bazette, TX. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Gilmer 3rd Ward all her life.
As a child, she was blessed as a baby and was baptized at the age of 8 years old in her uncle’s pond in Kelsey, TX. She moved to Kelsey when she was in the 1st grade and attended school in the Red Brick School House in Kelsey. It was a Church owned school and she was taught by missionaries. She transferred to Gilmer in 1943 where she began the 8th grade. She served in all the auxiliary organizations but served the longest in primary. She also served a mission in the Family History Library Center in Salt Lake City from July 2001 to December 2002.
She is survived by her children, Winford C. Coulter Jr. and wife Patsy of Diana, Debra E. Coulter of Kelsey, Jimmy Coulter and wife Cathy of Diana, Cheryl (Coulter) Starks and husband Jack of Diana.
Mary Jo had 19 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Winford C. Coulter Sr., son, Michael O. Coulter Sr., daughter in law, Theresa (Burke) Coulter, parents, Richard and Eleanor Dixon, and her three brothers, Harold, Jerry, and Dan Dixon.
Graveside service will take place at 11am Thursday April 4th, 2024, at the Heritage Center in Kelsey, TX. Visitation will take place at Croley Funeral Home Wednesday April 3rd from 6pm-8pm.
