Mary Alice Williams Owens

Graveside services for Mary Alice Williams Owens, 94, of Gilmer, Texas will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 15, 2017 at Morris Cemetery in Upshur County, Texas with Mr. Mark Engel officiating under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.

Mrs. Owens passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017 in Gladewater and was born in the Suffolk Community on January 17, 1923 to Nathan Frank Williams, Sr. and Bessie Corine Venn Williams. She attended Mings Chapel and Union Grove schools where she graduated as valedictorian of both her elementary and high school classes. Mrs. Owens married Perry Leon Owens in Gilmer on August 26, 1944. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Gilmer and Pritchett.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Terry Bibb of Granbury, Gay-Nell and Richard Harrison of Gilmer; grandsons, Nathan Trent Gage and his wife Kerry and Perry Neil Harrison and his wife Ashley and sisters-in-law, Mary Frances Hewitt Williams and Earline Minshew Owens.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Bessie Williams; husband, Perry Owens and her brother, Nathan Frank Williams, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
