On January 23, 1951 she married Lynn Elvin Godwin. On January 25, 1953 they had a daughter. From Carthage they moved to East Mountain in 1959 and made a home there. Marvin was a stay-at-home wife and mother. Her and her husband were married 55 years. She is survived by her daughter Mattie and husband Richard Holland. 2 grandchildren Ruth Malnar and husband Michael of Iron Mountain, Michigan. Amanda Green and husband Trey of Gilmer. 3 great grandchildren Travis Reusing of Michigan, Trevor Ragland of Gilmer, and Hannah Green of Gilmer. 1 great great grandchild Derek Reusing of Michigan. 1 brother Jae Liles and wife Sylvia of Pinehurst. And her precious dog Courtney. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lynn, 1 sister Lena Ball, 4 brothers Amos Liles, Earnest Liles, Thomas Liles, and Jessie Liles.

The family would like to thank Heartsway Hospice for their kindness and great care to Marvin and her family during her final days. Also thank you to Silve and Adela Caldwell for their care.

Marvin and Lynn always had someone living with them after they moved to East Mountain. Momma baby sat several of her nieces and nephews and neighbor kids. She would cook big pots of soup or beans and cornbread and share with her neighbor. She was known for her banana pudding. People used to tease each other who was going to get the first serving. When she cooked a meal she always shared with her best friend and neighbor Janie. They had a special bond and looked out for each other.

Marvin gave her heart to the Lord at 8 years old. She was very strong in her faith, she was a member of Grace Crossing Church of God in White Oak. Friends and family knew she was a prayer warrior and would ask her to help them pray for things. She was known to call her family regularly, she was very family oriented. Her neighbors often saw her sitting on her front porch with her fog or standing in her doorway.

She took care of her yard into her late 80’s mowing, weed eating, and trimming her hedges. She helped her husband with whatever he was doing from tending cows, raising a garden, baling hay, or building cattle trailers.

She loved her grandkids, great grandkids, and great great grandson and her daughter Mattie. They never missed a day talking to each other. They were more than just mother and daughter, they were best friends.

Pallbearers are Trey Green, Travis Reusing, and Trevor Ragland.
