Marvin Eugene "Gene" Cook

Services for Gene Cook, 80, of Big Sandy, will be held 2:00 P. M. Monday, July 7, 2014, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer, with Reverend Doyle Perryman officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Pritchett. Mr. Cook passed away Friday, July 4, 2014, in Lufkin, TX. Gene was born April 30, 1934, in Diana, TX, to Thomas Marvin and Tabatha Cook. He owned Cook"s Paint and Body, and also had worked as a paramedic and loved to garden. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife: Betty Cook; son: Mac Cook; daughter: Melinda Akins; 6 grandchildren: "Lil" Mac" Cook, James Henkle, Mallary Henkle, Trista Mustard, Dillon Cook, Landon Cook; and 13 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6, from 5 to 8 PM at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
