Mark Hammonds

Funeral service for Mark Hammonds, 42, of Gilmer will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Pastor Jim Wolstenholm officiating. Mr. Hammonds passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016 at a Longview hospital. Mr. Hammonds was born on July 17, 1973, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, to David Paul and Luann Abshier Hammonds. He was employed with Upshur Rural Electric, a lifetime resident of Upshur County and was a member of the Gilmer Church of the Nazarene. He is survived by his wife, Danielle Hammonds of Gilmer; children, Brandie Hammonds of Big Sandy, Melissa Hammonds of Longview, Louren Thompson of Gilmer, Dillon Thompson of Gilmer, Joseph Hammonds of Gilmer, and Victoria Hammonds of Gilmer; father and step-mother, David and Marsha Hammonds of Mt. Pleasant; mother and step-dad, Luann and James Jones of Pittsburg; sister, Lori Hooper of Pittsburg; step-brothers, Bryan Lawrence of Mt. Pleasant, T.J. Lawrence of McKinney and Andy Jones of Pittsburg; step-sister, Amy Lawrence of Mt. Pleasant; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Mr. Hammonds was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harry and Aileen Hammonds; and maternal grandparents, James "Al" and Wanda Abshier. Pallbearers will be Brian Smith, James Whitaker, Michael Hooper, Jeremy Abshier, Josh Abshier, Dewayne Fennel, Jeff Harris and Terry Richardson. Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Stanley and Jeff Gee. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 2, 2016 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. The family request that memorials be made In the Memory of "Mark" to the Youth Fund at Gilmer Church of the Nazarene, 3295 State Highway 155 South, Gilmer, TX 75645 in place of flowers.
