1.Marguerite S. Biggs, our beloved grandmother, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2011 at the age of 90. Marguerite (also known as Mimmie) was born on Dec. 15, 1920 in Gilmer, TX. She was the only child of the late W. C. and Nellie Jo Scales. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Jim Biggs and her daughter Jennell Henry Gilliam. 2.Marguerite had a zest for life, which was felt by everyone around her. When life presented a challenge, she always kept her wit smart, her smile sparkling, and her nature loving. She was an accomplished seamstress, artist, gardener and wood carver. She was a pioneer for working women and spent 39 years working for the State of Texas" Health and Welfare Department, reaching a high level of management in Austin, Texas. She is survived by her 3 granddaughters, Marty Gilliam French and husband, Michael; Tabra Gilliam Paulsel and husband Johnny; Jeray Gilliam Burgess and husband James; her grandchildren Russell, Renee and Rand French, Chandler Burgess, Jordan Burgess Hopper and her great-grand children Rylee and Aiden Hopper; along with many cousins and friends. A memorial service to celebrate Marguerite"s life will be held at Croley Funeral Home, Gilmer, Texas at 11 a.m. Sat. July 2, 2011. Flowers or memorial donations are welcome.
