Born November 6, 1929, in Shelby County, Texas, to Lawrence W. Reynolds and Beatrice Martin Reynolds. Graduated from Marshall High School, Marshall, Texas in 1945, and worked as a legal secretary before and after her marriage on September 22, 1950 to Royce Carlton Plummer of Marshall. She was co-owner/operator of Royce Plummer Polled Hereford Farm in Keithville, during which time she served as Secretary for the Ark-La-Tex Polled Hereford Association. Later, she returned to college at LSU-Shreveport, earning B.A., M.B.A, and M.L.A. degrees in Liberal Arts, and she earned her Ph.D. in Humanities from University of Texas at Dallas.
While at LSUS, she was Director of the Pioneer Heritage center, historical museum on campus, and later also served on the faculty of LSUS. During her tenure as museum director, she was elected Education Committee Chair for the American Association of museums, and was active in the Louisiana museum Association and Southeastern Museum Conference, presenting and producing programs for national, regional, and state museum associations. She also arranged the Smithsonian Institution's Regional workshop for teachers and hosted it at LSUS. In 2007 she received the Education Honor Award from the Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation. She retired from LSUS on July 1, 2006 as Director Emeritus of Pioneer Heritage Center and Associate Professor of History.
Marguerite joined Broadmoor Baptist Church with her husband in 1956, and over the years served as Adult Sunday School teacher and Women's Missionary Union Director.
Preceding her in death: Both parents, her infant daughter Mary Louise Plummer, husband Royce Carlton Plummer, sisters Helen Steele, Norma Merzbacher, Shirley Lynn Meyers, and brother Lawrence Wayne Reynolds.
Survivors include nieces Dr. Sandra Wiggins Petersen of Dallas, Cathy Reynolds Baker and husband Bill of Cypress, Texas, Cindy Reynolds King, and Brenda Reynolds Wilkerson, of Temple, Texas, nephews Gary Reynolds and wife Tina, Greg Reynolds and wife Teresa, of Temple, Texas, Charles E. Merzbacher, Jr. and wife Cherie, of Dublin, Ohio, and Vince Troublefield and wife Donna of Marshall, Texas, numerous great-nieces and nephews, friends, and loved ones.
Great nieces and nephews, Holli Marguerite Petersen Park and husband Dr. James Park of Dallas, Tx, Brandi Petersen Gruner and husband Sam of Dallas, Luke Petersen and wife Tawnyah of Marshall, Tx, Chad and Caitlyn Merzbacher of Dublin, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday, May 20th, at Croley Funeral Home, 305 West Harrison Street, Gilmer, Tx, 75644. Interment at Walnut Creek Cemetery in Diana.
