Margaret Marie Ellis

Margaret Marie Ellis, 92, also known as MeMe passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 in Covington, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Ellis, her son, Joe Larry Ellis and her parents, Vonnie and Myrtle Brown, her brother, Don Brown, and her sister, Melba Brown Spivey.

She is survived by her son, Barry C. Ellis, Sr. (Nancy); her brother, Gairee Brown; grandchildren, Barry C. Ellis, Jr. (Madeline), Jeremy B. Ellis (Angelina), and Ashley L. Kott (James R.); great-grandchildren, Caroline Ellis, Elaina Ellis, Thomas Ellis, Elizabeth Ellis, Jacob Ellis, and Olivia Kott.

She was a native of Paris, TX, where she worked at a local pharmacy where she met and married her husband, Bill. Their journey in life had them live in many places including Texas, Louisiana, Venezuela, Road Island, and New Mexico. Their retirement home was in Sacramento, NM, until Bill’s health issues had them move to Mandeville, LA. Margaret had a highly independent spirit, and was an avid Bridge player and skilled needlepoint artist. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilt making, and various other arts and crafts. She enjoyed the beauty of life and crafted things that reflected that beauty.

She will be greatly missed by her family and her pet Maggie II.

Private Family Interment will take place at Hawkins Cemetery in Hawkins, Texas.
