Maggie Ruth Godfrey

Maggie Ruth Godfrey of Arlington, 96, was born on July 13, 1916 in the Shady Grove Community, Upshur County, Texas, to Samuel Parker McWhorter and Leta Ethel Killian McWhorter. She was the third of six children. Mrs. Godfrey died on Sunday morning, June 9, 2013 at Christian Care Center in Mesquite, Texas. On May 13, 1936, she married Ralph Godfrey and they moved to Dallas, Texas. Mrs. Godfrey was an Occupational Therapist at the Denton State School and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ralph Godfrey; two brothers, David Floyd McWhorter and Rufus Roy McWhorter; two sisters, Nanny Lucile Carroll and Mary Lois Templeton. Mrs. Godfrey is survived by her five children and their spouses; Ralph Richard and Nancy Elizabeth Post Godfrey, Robert Joe and Iris Ellen Prescott Godfrey, Rebecca Ilene and David Allen Campbell, Roy Paul and Tess Godfrey, and Deborah Ruth and Donald Virgil Bynum; fifteen grandchildren, Mark Richard Godfrey (Linda Louise), Jonathan David Godfrey (Heather Cornish), Paul Andrew Charles Godfrey (Alisa Voss), Kreg Prescott Godfrey (Barbara), Paul Matthew Godfrey, Lauren Ruth Godfrey, David Jonathan Godfrey, Rebecca Lorrielle Smith (Stephen Jonathan), Ruth-Anna Michelle Williams (Richard Alan, Jr.), Deborah Gabrielle Guerrero (Sergio Guerrero Gallegos), Holly Ruth Hack (Paul), Parker Robinson Godfrey, Andrew Christopher Bynum (NeKisha), Peter Stinson Bynum (Rosie) and John Wayde Bynum. She is also survived by twenty six great grandchildren, Elizabeth Louise Godfrey, Margaret Evelyn Godfrey, Devon Cornish, Logan Godfrey, Noah Godfrey, Hannah Elizabeth Godfrey, Mikhala Danielle Godfrey, Kelsey Brianne Godfrey, Lynnsey Nechole Godfrey, Michael David Godfrey, Christopher Watkins(Kim), Emily Kirkpatrick(Shawn), Nichole Godfrey, Zachary Godfrey, Stephen Jonathan Smith, Jr., Hannah Marie Smith, Richard Alan Williams III, Frederick Teague Williams, Hacinto Guerrero, Jesus Guerrero, Sergio Alejandro Guerrero, Cesaria Gabriela Guerrero, David Wayne Guerrero, Emily Ruth Hack, Gillian Grace Bynum and Jackson Bynum; two great-great grandchildren, MacKenzie Rose Watkins and Christian Andrew Watkins. Graveside services were held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Shady Grove Cemetery, Upshur County, Texas under the direction of Croley Funeral Home, Gilmer.
