Luther Dale Spain

Services for Luther Dale Spain, Sr., 77, of White Oak, Texas will be Monday, January 12, 2015 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater, Texas at 10:00 A.M. with Vince Williams officiating and interment following at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Rusk County. Luther passed on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at his home in White Oak after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Luther Dale Spain was born to Luther Spain and Nettie M. Johnson in Henderson, Texas on September 19, 1937. He retired from the Army serving in the Vietnam conflict. He was married to Shirley Thomas Spain and was a resident of White Oak, Texas. Mr. Spain is survived by his daughters; Elwanda Spain of Kentucky, Susie Gafford and husband Daryl of White Oak, and Barbara Spain of White Oak; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Luther Spain of Pine Tree, mother, Nettie Wright of Gladewater, wife, Shirley, and son, "Luther Buddy Spain." Visitation will be held Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home.
