Lonnye Jean Ray

Lonnye Ray, 93, of Gladewater, Texas passed away on October 26, 2023.  Lonnye was born on July 20, 1930 in Upshur County to Babel and Juanita Baird Painter.

Lonnye went to school in East Mountain, Texas where she graduated in 1947. She married the love of her life, Percy Ray on August 9, 1947.  Percy preceded her in death in December 2009 after 62 wonderful years. Lonnye was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Gladewater, Texas.  She worked as a bookkeeper for Reliable Motor Supply for 35 years before retiring to enjoy her time at home.

Lonnye is survived by her children, Jeanette Humphries and husband Richard, Pam Spurgeon and husband Gene and Robert Ray and wife Brenda; sister, Fayrene Tillman; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren as well as many other loving family and friends.

Lonnye is preceded in death by her husband, Percy Ray as well as her parents, Babel Painter and Juanita Baird Painter as well as her brother Larry Painter.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 2 in the afternoon at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer, Texas.
