Lois Elizabeth Spangler, age 86, born in Bluefield, Virginia, on May 30, 1925, went home to be with Lord on May 7, 2012. She lived most of her life in Virginia but eventually made her home in Gilmer, Texas, surrounded by family and friends. She would do anything for anyone and lived for helping others. She could work circles around anyone, even in her eighty"s she would be outside gardening, planting and mowing grass with a push mower. Known as Lolo to her family and Ms. Lois to her friends, she always made people smile and she never met a stranger. She left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her biggest love besides family was cooking. She was known for her wonderful cakes and pies and especially her fried chicken and those who were on the receiving end of all those goodies, kept coming back for more. Lois leaves being to cherish her memory, sons, Wesley L. Spangler, Sr., Phelix D. Spangler and wife Pamela, all of Gilmer and Mike Spangler and wife Dorothy of Ohio; daughter, Brenda Stevens and husband Alvin of Winchester, Virginia; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Spangler and wife Carolyn of Gilmer; brother James Rolen and wife Bessie, of Bluefield, Virginia and sister Shirley Duncan of Winchester, Virginia. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents Elmer and Mary Leola Rolen; husband Felix Eugene Spangler; brothers, Robert Wesley Rolen and Whitney Deron Rolen; sisters, Virginia Ruth Rose, Magaline Dixon and Allie Grey King; and daughter-in-law, Hazel C. Spangler. She was a member of White Oak Church of God and loved her church family. Funeral services will be held at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, Texas on Friday, May 11, 2012, at 10:00 A.M with Reverend Sam Goude. A viewing for family and friends will be on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Gladewater Memorial Park following funeral service. Pallbearers are Mike Spangler, Wesley Spangler, Jr., Shawn Crumley, Bo Estes, Darren McCracken and Gary Brewer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Butch Alexander, Ryan Bogenschutz, and Eddie Sammons. Her beautiful smile and kindness for all will never be forgotten.
