Lois Ann Lay Johnson

Ms. Lois Ann Lay Johnson, 86, of Denton, formerly of Gilmer, Texas, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021. Funeral service for Ms. Johnson will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer with Bro. Brett Gilpatrick officiating, interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Croley Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.

Lois was born October 13, 1934, in Gilmer, Texas to the late Thomas and Beulah Buchannan Lay. She owned Deen’s Riverside Restaurant for many years and worked for Dallas ISD as well. Lois volunteered her time as a Pink Lady and was one of the original Tupper Ware Ladies. She also worked as a cosmetic consultant and was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. Lois will always be known as a loving and devoted grandmother and will be greatly missed by the ones she leaves behind.
Lois is survived by her son, Stephen Andrew (Debbie); daughter, Dianne Markley (Doug), Beverly Stephens, Terri Richison, and Sheril Ray (Richard); grandchildren, Brian Richison (Crissy), Adam Richison (Emily), Marcus Stephens (Michelle), Allison “Quinn” Ray, and Evan Andrew; and seven great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Carl, Lynn, Owen, and Thomas Lay; sisters, Jean Stewart, Cordie McMullough, and Margie Barfield; and son-in-law, Rick Richison.
