Linda Sue Murray

Linda Sue Murray, 81, of Gilmer, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on January 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 26, 1943, in Gilmer, Texas, Linda was the daughter of the late Orvis Milton “Mutt” Stegall and Ethel Velma (Beene) Stegall. She was a proud graduate of Harmony High School and later attended cosmetology school.

After high school, Linda married her high school sweetheart, David Harold Langford, and together they were blessed with two daughters. She was a devoted and loving mother to Kim Green (Bill) and Kristy Pierce (Thomas). One of Linda’s greatest joys in life was being a grandmother to Ashley Zucosky (Jeff), Mallory Jackson (Fred), Jordan Hardy (Parker), and Madison Pierce (Hunter). Her heart grew even fuller with the blessing of eight great-grandchildren: Ava, Harper, John Parker, Pierce, Holt, Livi, Hayes and Porter.

In 2001, Linda married the love of her life, Curtis Ray Murray, and together they built a beautiful, blended family. With open arms, she welcomed Curtis' children as her own: Tony Murray (Melissa), Steve Murray, Kim Murray, Toyia Urbaniak (Cowboy), Theresa Wilcox (Lloyd), and Lenny Digilormo. Her love extended even further to the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren she was blessed with through Curtis' family, and she cherished each of them as her own.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Jackie Ray Stegall, Patsy Ann Oney, and Larry Gene Stegall. She is survived by her sister, Dora Ione “Tillie” Davis.

Linda had a strong work ethic and a heart for serving others. She held various roles throughout her career, working at the Gilmer Sewing Factory, serving as secretary for the superintendent and bookkeeper of Harmony ISD, bookkeeper at Union Grove ISD, owning and operating Po Folks Junction Café, and more recently she served many years as Manager of Ellis Pottery in Longview.

Faith was the cornerstone of Linda’s life, and she was deeply involved in her church family at Glenwood First Baptist Church. Her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering faith touched many lives, and she will be remembered for her love, generosity, and dedication to her family and community.

The family invites friends to gather for a visitation at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer on Monday, February 3, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A celebration of Linda’s life will take place at Croley Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial at Shady Grove Cemetery.
