Graveside services for Linda Kay Askew Gartman, 66 of Deer Park, Texas will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Hoover Cemetery in Upshur County, Texas under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Born on March 15, 1947 in Pasadena, Texas to Edward Louis and Mary Helen Davis Askew, she passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 in Deer Park, Texas after a long battle with brain cancer, complicated by diabetes. Linda graduated from South Houston High School in 1965 and on January 23, 1966 married Vernon Wayne Gartman. She was a stay at home mom and sold Tupperware in the evenings, to help ends meet. When her daughters started school she started her career as an accountant. She was a dedicated employee and strived to do her best in every job she did. She was an active bowler in Pasadena and Texas WBA"s, both as a bowler and a volunteer in the administrative side of bowling and is a member of the Pasadena Bowling Hall of Fame. She loved bowling and her many bowling trips around the United States and formed lasting friendships with bowlers she met. After her retirement in 2010 she took up quilting and became a caregiver to an elderly friend. Linda is survived by her husband, Vernon Gartman; daughters, Dee Dee Seiter and husband, Ron, Kathy Hotaling and husband, Brian; mother, Mary Helen Askew; grandchildren, Christopher Seiter and Nicole, William Seiter, Cynthia Seiter, Joshua Hotaling, Kayleigh Hotaling, Kyle Hotaling; great granddaughter, Brooke Lynn Seiter. She is also survived by her siblings, Louis Askew and wife, Michelle, Peggy Hilgen and husband, Bob; Diane Harper; Mike Askew, Larry Askew, Cliff Askew and wife, Dee, Jerry Askew, Jeff Askew and wife, Susan and Nancy Askew. Pallbearers are her brothers and grandsons. The family would like to give a thank you to her caregiver, Juanita Perez for the loving care given to our wife, mother and grandmother. Visitation will be on Friday, February 28, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held in Deer Park, Texas at Deer Park Funeral Home at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 4, 2014.
