Lillie Lurlene Barton

GILMER- Funeral services for Lillie "Lurlene" Barton, 93, of Gilmer will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer with Bro. Donny Chamberlain and Bro. Charles Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Upshur County. Mrs. Barton passed to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on May 8, 2016. Lurlene was born October 1, 1922, to Byon and Curtis Amos. She married Jimmy Barton and together they started Barton"s Tabernacle which became a popular venue for gospel music. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Wayne Barton; daughter, June Barton; son, Larry Barton and wife, Rolanda; ten grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy; son, Jerry, and her parents. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Ray Gunn, Gerald Barton, Jimmy Ray Barton, Gary Barton, Brian Barton, and Josh Barton. She will be greatly missed by those blessed to have known her. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
