Funeral service for Lewis Monroe Shepperd, 84, of Gilmer will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 27, 2015 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Mike Stubbs officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer, Texas. Mr. Shepperd passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015 in Gilmer. He was born on December 11, 1930, in Gainesville, Texas to John Foy Shepperd and Mary Olivia Ganus Shepperd. Mr. Shepperd served in the U. S. Army and married Mary Jean Watts on February 17, 1956, in Gilmer. He was chief of security at Lone Star Steel before his retirement and a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Shepperd is survived by his daughters, Melanie Shepperd and Amy Shepperd both of Gilmer; sister-in-laws, Pat Shepperd of Longview, Jacqulyn Shepperd of Tulsa, Ok.; sisters, Rebecca Farner of Bedford, Tx, Jane Parton of Gladewater and Mary Ford of Bedford; grandchildren, Jesse and Cody Joe Shico; great grandchildren, Jobey, Bailey and Kaylan Shico. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary Jean Shepperd; brothers, Henry Lee and John Stanley Shepperd. Pallbearers will be Bryan Parton, Fred Farner, Nathan Farner, John Henry Shepperd, mark Shepperd, Scott Shepperd, Cory Shepperd and Jacob Shepperd. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, Texas.
