Mr. Lester F. Harguess, 91, of Gilmer passed away on Monday, January 30, 2012 in Gilmer. His services will be held 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Gilmer Church of Christ with Jeff Proctor officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mr. Harguess was born on July 6, 1920, in Deport, Texas to Daniel Lay and Sarah Valentine Harguess. He served in the U. S. Army, was self employed and a member of Gilmer Church of Christ. Mr. Harguess is survived by his wife, Enola Harguess of Gilmer; two sons, Lester Harguess and wife, Barbara of Walnut Ridge, AR, Carl Harguess of Camp Verde, AZ; two daughters, Nilda Watkins and husband, Larry of Phoenix, AZ, Sara Harguess of Phoenix, AZ; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Harguess; son, Milton Harguess; three brothers, Elzie Harguess, William Harguess and Daniel Lay; two sisters, Midge Taylor and Clara Taylor. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 1, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent to Camp Deer Run, 1227 CR 4590, Winnsboro, Texas 75494.
